Navigate IFRS Accounting
Glynnis Carthy CA (SA) is a financial reporting specialist who provides consulting and training services related to the interpretation and application of IFRS. Having trained at Deloitte and spent 4 years in their accounting technical department, Glynnis has extensive practical experience and knowledge of IFRS and advises on the application of IFRS to specific transactions. Glynnis worked at Croner-i providing guidance on preparing IFRS accounts, model accounts, the Company Reporting IFRS best practice disclosure service, eCPD training courses and guidance on other specialist topics. She was also an author of Navigate IFRS Accounting. She now works as a technical specialist for BDO South Africa, whilst consulting for Croner-i on Navigate IFRS Accounting, contributing courses on a range of IFRS topics for Navigate Learning and authoring Common Practice reports for Company Reporting.
Paul Gee FCA was Senior lecturer, subsequently Principal Lecturer, at Bristol Business School, part of the University of the West of England. He then joined Solomon Hare as Technical and Training Director. Following the merger with Smith and Williamson, Paul became an Associate Director in the firm’s National Assurance Technical Group. He has written several publications including Accountants’ Digests on financial reporting issues and was previously a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s UK GAAP Technical Advisory Group. He presents regularly on financial reporting at the Croner-i Accountants in Business (AIB) conferences. Paul is a reviewer of the financial statement guidance in Navigate IFRS Accounting.
Marek Muc FCCA started his career in PwC where he had experience in audit, technical accounting and delivering trainings to new joiners. He left PwC to join a newly established Allianz Bank where his was primarily responsible for developing accounting policies under IFRS. Later he joined Orange, one of the world's largest telecommunications groups. In Orange’s Polish division, he worked as an IFRS expert advising company’s management on various accounting topics and as a manager overseeing consolidation process and preparation of IFRS consolidated financial statements. In 2018, he launched IFRScommunity.com, an online discussion board for IFRS enthusiasts. Marek is now involved in various projects where he provides technical advice on a range of IFRS accounting topics whilst consulting for Croner-i on Navigate IFRS Accounting, contributing courses on a range of IFRS topics for Navigate Learning and authoring Common Practice reports for Company Reporting.
Matt Tilling CPA has had a career focused around the international accounting standards (IFRS Standards). He spent nearly 20 years in Australia as an academic (including Head of Accounting at the University of Notre Dame, Australia) and in the profession (including Senior Manager at BDO, Australia). During this time Matt wrote a number of textbooks and many academic papers on accounting. Matt then moved to the UK to join the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) as both Director of Education and a member of technical staff. In these roles he supported the implementation of IFRS Standards around the world and was part of the IFRS 13 post-implementation review. More recently he has been undertaking various projects including lecturing at Cambridge University, supporting Myanmar’s transition to IFRS accounting standards, developing online learning for African accountants and consulting and training on IFRS Standards. Matt is now Project Director at the UK Endorsement Board and prior to joining, he contributed courses on a range of IFRS accounting topic for Navigate Learning, and reviewed financial statement guidance in Navigate IFRS Accounting.
Michelle Fisher ACA has eighteen years of post-qualification experience in developing and applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including nine years in Deloitte’s IFRS technical support departments in Hong Kong and the UK. Michelle also spent six years at the IFRS Foundation/International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and two years at the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs working on IFRS implementation and standard-setting projects. She is currently working as an independent IFRS consultant, and particularly enjoys the challenge of explaining complicated issues in a digestible way. She is also a member of the SME Implementation Group, an advisory body to the IASB on the IFRS for Small and Medium-sized entities (SMEs). Michelle contributes courses on a range of IFRS accounting topics for Navigate Learning and is an author of financial statement guidance in Navigate IFRS Accounting.
Navigate UK GAAP Accounting
Katherine White FCA is a partner at Buzzacott and works with a range of businesses from small entrepreneurial start-ups to large subsidiaries of international groups. Her clients regularly seek her expertise in audit, bespoke assurance and advisory projects (including financial reporting advice, due diligence and preparing financial statements for complex entities). Katherine also has a technical role alongside her client work, including representing Buzzacott at the ICAEW’s National Technical Advisory Committee, and has authored books on preparing company and LLP accounts. Katherine is a reviewer of the financial statement guidance in Navigate UK GAAP Accounting and the UK GAAP model accounts.
Helena Wilkinson FCA DChA works on a practice-wide basis at Price Bailey as a Partner and Head of Charities and Not for Profit. She is the Vice-Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Charity Professionals Committee and was one of the first people to gain the ICAEW’s Diploma in Charity Accounting (DChA). She is a recognised charity expert, writes for national and charity press including the Guardian and Charity Finance, and regularly presents at charity sector events. Her roles within the industry have included financial management, corporate governance and strategic planning. Helena previously authored Preparing Charity Accounts and is now reviewer and author of the charity guidance, disclosure checklist and model accounts in Navigate UK GAAP Accounting and consults on the assurance tools in Navigate Audit.
Iain Storey FCA works in Price Bailey’s technical team in a role that includes giving advice on technical accounting matters. As part of this role, he is closely involved in reviewing and advising on charity accounts under FRS 102. Before joining the technical team, Iain worked in audit for many years. Iain works with Helena in reviewing and authoring the charity guidance, disclosure checklist and model accounts in Navigate UK GAAP Accounting.
Catherine Hardinge FCA DChA qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in 1997. She joined Price Bailey in 2003 and became a partner in 2014, heading up the technical and compliance team. She has significant experience of working with a broad range of corporate and not for profit clients. Catherine works on a practice-wide basis as the Technical and Compliance Partner for the firm. She provides technical support on a variety of issues in relation to accounting, auditing, company law and ethical matters. Catherine previously authored Preparing LLP Accounts, and is now reviewer and author of the LLP guidance, disclosure checklist and model accounts in Navigate UK GAAP Accounting.
Navigate UK GAAP Accounting and Navigate IFRS Accounting
Steve Collings FCCA is the audit and technical director at Leavitt Walmsley Associates, a firm of Chartered Certified Accountants based in Cheshire. Steve works closely with academies and specialises in audit, accounting and Solicitors Accounts Rules. Steve was a member of the UK GAAP Technical Advisory Group at the Financial Reporting Council and has written several books on the subjects of auditing and accounting. He is also a nationwide lecturer on UK GAAP, IFRS and auditing. Steve has won ‘Accounting Technician of the Year’ at the British Accountancy Awards and was shortlisted for Practitioner of the Year. He has also been awarded ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Accountancy Profession’ by the Association of International Accountants.
Steve is a regular contributor of courses on a range of accounting topics for Navigate Learning and has reviewed financial statement guidance in both Navigate UK GAAP Accounting and Navigate IFRS Accounting.
