With effect from 19 July 2007, a ‘recognised stock exchange’ is defined for the purposes of the Income Tax Acts as being one which is designated as such by an Order of the Commissioners for HMRC and which falls within one of two categories:
•‘recognised investment exchanges’ designated by the Financial Services Authority; and
•markets outside the UK (see below).
