A land transaction is defined at ¶10-300. However, not all land transactions are chargeable transactions. A ‘chargeable transaction’ is defined as a land transaction that is not exempt from charge (see ¶30-000).

FA 2003, Sch. 3 provides for certain transaction to be exempt from charge. Other transactions are exempt from charge under other provisions of FA 2003, Part 4.

Schedule 3 exemptions

These exemptions fall into six categories (see ¶30-100 and ¶30-200):

Cases where there is no chargeable consideration for the transaction (see ¶30-200).
