An application for probate may also be made through a probate practitioner13 and persons or bodies authorised to perform specified legal activities. Authorised or licensed persons to carry out probate activities may also be made by:

(a)a barrister with a practicing certificate;

(b)a solicitor duly certificated in accordance with the Solicitors Act 1974, s. 1;

(c)a notary public;

(d)the public trustee;

(e)the official solicitor;


(g)licensed conveyancers;

(h)a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA);

(i)a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW);

(j)a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX);
