In calculating the value of lump sums at 5 April 2006, the lump sums of both crystallised and uncrystallised benefits at that date are taken into account for this purpose. If the benefits have crystallised, the lump sum is deemed to be 25% × (25 × the pension in payment at that date). If the pension is a drawdown pension, the maximum available withdrawal is used in the calculation.
