Individuals (whether carrying on a trade or profession as a self-employed sole trader, or in partnership with other individuals) may use a voluntary simplified cash basis for income tax and simplified arrangements for certain expenses. Qualifying small businesses can choose to be taxed on the basis of the cash that passes through their books, rather than being asked to spend their time doing calculations designed for big businesses.
