A relief may be available from the non-domestic rates assessment, depending on the location of the property or the size and nature of the business. The most important of these for FHLs is small business rate relief which is available if the business only uses one property and the rateable value is less than £15,000. Small business rate relief is still available if the rateable value of each additional property is less than £2,900 and the total rateable value of all properties is less than £20,000 (£28,000 in London).
