A transfer of a going concern has the following effects.
(1) No output tax
No output tax arises on a sale (transfer) of a business as a going concern because VAT is a tax only on certain supplies, acquisitions and importations (VATA 1994, s. 4(1), 10(1) and (4)). Such a sale is outside the scope of VAT.
