If food is served in a restaurant, usually it is intended to be consumed on the premises where the supply takes place.

Difficulties can arise where cold food is supplied for more or less immediate consumption, but not for consumption in an area which is owned by the supplier. It is then necessary to consider what is meant by ‘premises’. The areas to be considered are the unit from which the retailer makes supplies together with other areas set aside for the consumption of food.
