Some partners in firms of solicitors are part-time clerks to a magistrates’ court or the general commissioners of income tax. The services supplied by the holder of the office may be supplied by the firm or by the solicitor. HMRC generally treat the supplies as being made by the partnership unless there is obviously no connection between the partnership business and the appointment of the individual partner to the particular office.
