If a qualifying dredger or tug, being a qualifying ship operated by a company, ceases to be registered in any of the member states' registers (see ¶793-320) then the ship may not be regarded from that date as (FA 2000, Sch. 22, para. 22E):

a qualifying ship operated by the company; or

in the case where the company is a member of a group immediately before that date, a qualifying ship operated by any company that is or becomes a member of the group.

The date on which the ship ceases to be a qualifying ship is known as the ‘cessation date’. Not only does the ship cease to be a qualifying ship operated but other restrictions come into play.
