In general, allowances or charges are given ‘in calculating the profits of that person's [i.e. the company’s] trade’ (formerly ‘in taxing that person's trade’) (CAA 2001, s. 247, former s. 352(1)). Similar provisions apply for the purposes of a property letting business .
