There are various forms of franchise agreement in use, ranging from the simple manufacture or distribution of certain products under licence, to so-called ‘business system franchise agreements’, under which the owner of an established business system or format (the ‘franchisor’) grants to another person (the ‘franchisee’) the right, for a specified period, to carry on business using the franchisor’s system, trade name, etc., in return for fees.
