A transfer of shares is complete when the transfers have been delivered to the transferee and registered in the books of the company.

Several decided cases have considered the question of when a gift of shares is complete as between donor and donee, and the principle running through them is that the gift is not made until the donor has done everything which he must do to enable the donee to be registered as owner.
