This is a lump sum paid on the death of a member by a money purchase or cash balance arrangement (see ¶375-750 and ¶375-800) in respect of ‘relevant uncrystallised funds’ and which is not a charity lump sum death benefit (see ¶379-800), (FA 2004, Sch. 29, para. 15(1)).

Where the lump sum was paid before 6 April 2015 and the member had died under the age of 75, the lump sum had to be paid within two years of the scheme administrator becoming aware of the member’s death or the day when he could reasonably be expected to be aware of the death, if earlier (FA 2004, Sch. 29, para. 15(1A), prior to repeal).
