Authorised member payments are the payments that a registered pension scheme is authorised to make to, or in respect of, the members of the pension scheme. Only the following are authorised member payments:

pensions permitted by the pension rules (FA 2004, s. 165(1)) or the death benefit rules (FA 2004, s. 167(1)) (see, respectively, ¶378-100ff. and ¶379-000ff.);

lump sums permitted by the lump sum rule or the lump sum death benefit rule (see, respectively, ¶378-500ff. and ¶379-500);

recognised transfers (see ¶380-000);

scheme administration member payments (see ¶380-050);
