The personal representatives are liable for the income tax chargeable on the deceased at death. They will therefore be responsible for computing and returning the income tax liability in respect of the year in which death occurs (¶365-675) and arranging for the settlement of unsettled liabilities for prior tax years (¶365-725). In respect of tax years prior to death this may, in certain circumstances, include liabilities not yet assessed.
