Introduction

Some businesses like to draw their accounts up to dates that vary slightly from year to year. A firework manufacturer might like its accounting date to fall on the first Friday after 5 November; another business might choose to draw accounts up to the last day (whether 28 or 29) of February; yet another might choose the last working day of the calendar year, the date of which will depend on where the weekend falls; a school might draw accounts up to the last day of the summer term.
