With effect from 1 November 2004, in relation to deaths on or after 6 April 2004, if an estate is an excepted estate and the personal representatives are not required to deliver an account under IHTA 1984, s. 216, they are required to provide the following information in relation to the deceased to the probate registry (or the sheriff, in Scotland), when applying for probate or confirmation (see ¶180-875 below):

the full name;

date of death;

marital or civil partnership status;

occupation;

any surviving spouse or civil partner, parent, brother or sister;

the number of surviving children, step-children, adopted children or grandchildren;
