Although the Crown is not subject to tax, the Queen and the Prince of Wales have voluntarily agreed to pay tax on their incomes. Details of the arrangements are contained in a statement made by the Prime Minister on 11 February 1993, the full text of which is reproduced below.

‘With permission Madam Speaker, I should like to make a statement about my further discussions with Her Majesty The Queen about taxation and Civil List payments.
