In addition to any circumstantial conditions, contribution conditions are attached to the contributory benefits by the Jobseekers Act 1995 (JSA 1995), s. 2 and SSCBA 1992, s. 21 and 35. For this purpose, the contributory benefits are:

Jobseeker’s Allowance (contributory element, as opposed to income related JSA – see below)

Short-term incapacity benefit;

Bereavement support payment (replaced bereavement payment, bereavement allowance and widowed parent’s allowance for deaths on or after 6 April 2017);

Categories A and B retirement pensions and the new (flat rate) state pension;

Child’s special allowance;

Maternity allowance.
