Landlord and tenant – Lease – Rent – Oral agreement – Plaintiff letting land to defendant on three successive bank holidays – Rent payable in three instalments – Defendant occupying land on first agreed date but not thereafter – Defendant refusing to pay rent due for remainder of letting period – Whether plaintiff entitled to recover balance of rent – Statute of Frauds 1677, s. 4.

  This was an appeal against a decision of the county court that the plaintiff was entitled to recover the balance of rent due under an agreement for a lease.
